The heater valve on my 51 200 appears to be stuck. Any suggestions on how to free it up? Or failing that, who sells and/or rebuilds them? I couldn't find one on Kanter's website. thanks

Ranco valves as NOS items are pretty nearly extinct but you can get a rebuild kit from NAPA. Why not take a look at Big Kev's great tutorial on rebuilding his? Go to "Literature and Manuals", and you'll find it under "How to & Tech Tips".

Kanter lists a valve for your car under "accessories"

Heater thermal valve, 1951-54, exchange or add $55.00 deposit $115.00

Tucson Packard lists the valve, too:

HEATER CONTROL VALVES 1941 - 1956

$ 100.00 * exchange

Max Merritt lists them for $125 each, plus a $50 core deposit:

Whether $100+ bucks versus $10 for the NAPA kit is a good deal depends entirely on what's wrong with the unit. If it's "stuck" because the capillary has ruptured, then perhaps buying from Sandy, Dan or Max is the way to go.
