John (JW), thanks for the donation of the 1940 Special "40th anniversary of the Packard". The caption of the below shown photograph reads:

The pic below shows him 1943 in Skopje. It looks small but is a high resolution photo. Click or even click twice to enlarge.
BTW He drove Packard and was "locomophile". Does that rings a bell ... Randy?

Other place, black instead white caps, mounted side windows but it still could be the same car with the same occupants in the backseats. What looks like a venturous mount design of the trafficators (wigwags) is highly probable just the electric cable.

Great pictures Gerd. The last one of Roosevelt at the Boeing Factory shows a Cormorant hood ornament with swept back wings.I don't believe I have ever seen one like that. I thought that was strictly a 1952 feature.

Gerry, I often believe to understand a (putative) Packard system or at least a kind of pattern until the first divergence appears. I call it exception until the next divergence appears. Then I use the plural (exceptions) until the third of the ... mhmmm ... exceptions appears. Ok, one has to be resourceful and the adjective "usual" seems to be more appropriate instead of "system" until the fourth "exception", no, the fourth ... mhmmm ... interesting irregularity appears. At least still able to fend for myself I scrap "usual" in favor of the adverb "mostly" but only soft-spoken mindful of Murphy's Law: badness comes in waves! As you perhaps know, Murphy was an optimist. The next irregularity is followed by pondering silence and a fast U-turn because now I rename all the previous exceptions and irregularties rule or even system and the previous system exception. I believe to understand a (putative) Packard system or at least a kind of pattern until...

This picture has been taken in 1938. It is labeled "Eleanor Roosevelt and the King and Queen of England" but I can't recognize the King. Perhaps the man at the steering wheel? If yes, it would have been a clever decision.

Marshal Tito's women and cars displayed the 1 even on the registration plate.

Forgive me to show you a postwar car inside this prewar thread. When starting the thread I wasn't aware that even after the war sometimes a Packard was the choosen one:

the carforce number one
.
