If the battery and cables check good I would look into the solenoid. The back plastic part with the terminals can be replaced as it is typical for the contacts to burn, arc and wear where the switching plate connects them each time the starter operates. Same solenoid was used in other cars so Napa has (or had) a rebuild kit for the Delco solenoids. The one I have is an Echlin STK2 but that is an old number so if they still carry the kits the number may have changed. If Napa is no help the kits are on ebay from time to time.
