Just to recap, this 374 I picked up was at some point was attempted to be beefed up, High Dome Racing pistons, Solid Lifters, Adjustable rods etc.
To get back to stock Packard, alot of work had to go into it. Grind Crank, Cam. Clean and Magnaflux block and heads. Alignment and hone, bored to .060. Decked Block and Heads. Hardened Seats. Valve job to new valves. Various oversized Valve guide Journals sleeved with new guides to accept stock valve stems. Rods and Pistons balanced to .5 Grams.

Getting ready to begin assembly on the 374. One thing I do, or my preference is to install hardened seats and drill and install standard i.d. valve guides. In doing so, I dont have to worry about when I exceed the cast valve guide limits. In keeping the guide standard size, never a problem getting valves. Jack Vines may have an opinion on this and would love to hear feedback.
