Kev ... that is one very good looking car! I'd bet it runs even better than it looks, too!

You can make a lot of really neat things from the parts left over after you rebuild your engine ...

Got the dent removed from the dash where someone tried to strong arm their way into the glovebox when the can was sitting for many years.

Also started to polish the stainless chrome trim.

Just got a call from the paint shop, the Clipper is ready for color, and I am going over this afternoon to drop off the hood hinges and approve the color test spray.

Well just came from the paint shop. The color spray test card was not close. Come to find out when you ask Dupont for a color match to Bikini Blue, they actually provide the code for Meridian Blue. So we found a color that is closer out of the Dupont effects colors chip book and they will do another spray test card tomorrow. Obviously the metallic is going to be different compared to the original, but hey, this isn't a show car.

As long as you are happy with YOUR car - that's what counts.
Be as patient choosing the color as you are with some of us on this website.

I am going to be happy with this color. Also since it's a modern, stock Dupont color, matching later if something needs to get repainted or whatever should be a snap. Besides the difference in mica in the paint, I dont think you will notice any difference compared to the original color unless you physically laid an original paint chip on the car to compare. Also these will be a bit of difference just in the fact it's being paint base-clear instead of single stage.

It's going to be fabulous, bet you can't wait to see it, it's the crowning event of a restoration. Curious - some clear coats are toooo shiny imo, are they "flatting" out the gloss a bit? Guess being used to the way they looked back then, many new show cars just don't look quite right to my eye, maybe a result of being from that era.

Started working on getting all the Stainless polished up. I have a huge pile that needs to be cleaned up. About a 1/3 of the way done so far. I may have a few more bits hiding in storage still.

What are you using to clean the stainless?
