Could someone please post a photo of the R9 overdrive mount and crossmember? It appears the one on my car has disappeared!!! Car in question is the Super Clipper 356 2126.

Thanks

Assume you mean the coiled piece filled with rubber and the part it bolts onto which then bolts to the frame??? Here is the cross member, rubber filled piece and snubber parts from my 47 Custom in the first photo. The other photos were taken by Jeff and shows the parts installed on a 48 Custom. The mount pieces are the same on both those cars and I believe will be the same for your LWB.

Thanks Howard, that's exactly what I expected to see. But what confuses me is the the mount and vulcanised spring / mount are missing, but the snubber is in place and extends from the transmission to the cruciform on the chassis.

I'll get some photos tonight. Do we know if Packard discontinued the overdrive mount?

Not that I can see. Parts shows the same item used from 19 series Clippers thru the 23rd series models. I wonder if it might have been damaged or removed and someone never replaced it

Please see photo below (excuse the oil leak!) It appears the overdrive mount has been missing for some time. It's interesting to see that the snubber extends to the cruciform.

Looks like I need to post a wanted add for the cross memner and the shorter snubber bar. I have already sourced the insulator.

Interesting that there is no frame piece. Wonder if that is the 5.15001 non OD snubber assy?

On OD cars, there was a discussion -- I believe it was in the thread when you asked about the assy order last year -- where it appeared the 47s used a combination of both types of snubbers. Started with the older turnbuckle style snubber and then changed sometime in production to the simpler 48 rod version as is shown in these photos.

At any rate, parts says all OD had the coil/rubber support so with your car missing that and the frame piece, kind of makes me wonder if the car might have had OD added and they didn't get all of it.

That could possibly explain it.
