On a 1941 super 8 are the valve seats separate from the block or are they part of the block? Im not sure if the seat is cracked or just has an imperfection in it.

As originally built your engine did not have separate valve seat inserts, the seats were an intergral part of the block casting. However inserted seats might have been installed at some later rebuild.

I used my valve seat grinder several times more than normal but the bad spot keeps showing up. Here’s a picture

It looks like the valve seat is too far down in the block. I can't tell by looking if there's a crack or not.

It may be possible to machine the block to accept a valve seat insert to bring the seat back up closer to where it ought to be.

There are methods of remediating cracks, if it is actually cracked.

I'm inclined to agree, it appears to me that too much metal may have already been removed to ever form a satisfactory seat. And I think it's questionable if enough metal remains to satisfactorily install and retain a valve seat insert.

I suggest having a mechanic skilled in valve seat installations take a closer look at it.
