Thanks for the advice - I would dearly like to go back to the original as I am a believer in keeping things stock, but that may not be in the cards over the short term given my search for a tank is turning fruitless. In the meantime, as predicted, I am getting gas drip out of the carb when I try to start it. Therefore either the existing pressure regulator is letting too much fuel through and inundating the float and needle valves OR I have a stuck float OR both issues.

After looking online at the carbs for the 1929, I do not see the carb that I have on this vehicle. Any ideas on which carb this is?? I am reluctant to go too deep into it until I know I am able to obtain parts or at a minimum a gasket set.

That is almost certainly from some tractor as many had updraft carbs long after cars gave them up. Since it is wrong anyway, just get any old thing that is also wrong but works. I'd check antique tractor websites unless you want to drop a load of money and get the correct one.

Thanks. Disappointing info but I understand fully. Now it makes a bit more sense on why a previous owner discarded the vacuum tank and installed the fuel pump with a regulator set at 3psi. If they had carb issues and wanted a quick fix without spending a bunch of money on it, an old tractor sitting around would have come in handy. Being a person who cringes at bastardization of good machines, it is sad to see. I appreciate your response though.

Hi,
I think I have a correct carburetor for your 633. I own a 645 and mistakenly had the carburetor that my brother had bolted to it re-plated in nickel before I realized that the correct one for my car had the larger throat diameter (mine is 2 inches, and the one pictured here is 1.75 inches). Measure the diameter of the hole in your intake manifold at the flange and see if it is 1.75 inches. If so, this carb will bolt right up. I think they only made this carb in two sizes. This may be exactly what you need. I will re-assemble it for you if you would like. I have had mine apart so many times that I can do it in my sleep! You can see from the picture that it even has the original float, which is not cracked beyond repair like some of them out there. You can email me at wogec@yahoo.com if you are interested. Hi Mel,
I'm not trying to sell you a carburetor, but you should measure the diameter of the throat at the intake manifold. I made the same mistake when I spent a couple of hundred dollars having this carburetor plated. I assumed that because it bolted up, it was the correct size. It was actually too small, even though the studs fit the holes. At any rate, if you decide you need it, I will let that carburetor go for $250. Its not doing me any good sitting in a box.

Please note that your car seems to have an adapter fitted onto the manifold that allowed the use of the "tractor" carburetor. You will want to measure the throat and bolt pattern of the manifold and not the adapter.
