It looks very similar to one on page 758 of the book Packard, A History... describes as being introduced with the 6th series in 1929. The difference though appears to be that the filigree (if that's the word extends up from the base onto the portion that supports the Goddess. Also the right foot of the book photo appears the show it touching the base whereas yours is separated. This is the only detailed photo I can find. Does yours have any numbers of markings etc.? To be honest yours appears to be a pretty rough casting so perhaps a repro.?

Yeah, it looks like 1929 to me also.

It also looks like it has been broken and rewelded and ground the heck out of. Alot of the detail is gone on the long base, which kind of threw me.

Why would they need an internal thread if it is held on by a bail like that flicker photo one is.

Look at the very FIRST pic in the first post. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed but it sure looks to me like a bail clip would simply slide rite off No???? Just poor resolution on my junk computer maybe???

edit: Yes, the flikr photo looks like that bail would slide off real ez to under minor vibration. So i guess it works someway.

You're right, it does look pretty smooth--but the good one doesn't appear to have much either. portlandon makes a good point above that it looks like it has been repaired or welded and a lot has been ground out of it.
