A few handy charts showing engine rpm vs. rear axle ratio and tire diameter with and without an overdrive.

The overdrive numbers are based on a Gear Vendors unit with 28% reduction in engine rpm.

Excel spreadsheet that generated these graphs.

You can input your own rear axle ratio, and tire diameter to determine engine rpm.

Input your data in the light blue cells in the "Data MPH vs RPM" work sheet.
