I have a 1951 Packard 300 with a hole in the muffler. To replace the exhaust system, the Service Manual says to remove the u-bolts from the supports. My car does not have this type of supports. They are made of reinforced rubber and are attached to the pipe by a mounting piece welded on the pipe and rivots attaching it to the bracket which is bolted to the frame. Has anyone else delt with this type and are there any suggestions about remounting? Thanks!

So, after looking on ebay I found what appears to be a rig to replace the original. I'll try that!
