Haven't done much more. Stated making a jig to facilitate the bending on the sleeve instead of soldering but decided first idea wasn't going to work & shelved it. Got busy with bunch of installs and kinda put everything else involving physical labor aside. Will see about doing something this upcoming long holiday.

I've seen much of the same with the broken or stressed tabs on the rearward side of the bezel & have managed to find a couple of extras along the way. I've often wondered though would a less intense spring of the same length help to reduce the pull on the tabs?

The problem is that the bezel itself is weak. The constant or repeated big hand on the ignition key against the "start" position stop or accessory stop will weaken and crack the ears on the bezel.

The bezel is just plain piss poor.

I'd be a little concerned with a weaker spring. There is so much weight on the back end of ignition switch that could start vibrating with less tension, I wonder if that might hasten the tabs breaking or possibly loosen the connections.
