Only difference I have found is the Studebaker version oil pump has a thicker bottom plate and no vacuum pump. Cam and gears are the same.

Still trying to verify that '55 HRM article stating the Hash engines have a steel cam. Does anyone have part numbers confirming a different cam, lifters and distributor for Hash?

thnx, jack vines

Some manufacturers used some kind of an oil impregnation of cam shafts in production vehicles. It's important not to wash them in strong solvents. SBC ca. 1960-75 used this process that i am aware of and probably in all such Chev engines.

I don't know if Packard used it or not. In any case it would not be applicable to steel cams so i doubt that a steel cam would have been used in production.

My experience with HRM over the many years is to treat it like a Playboy magazine. Look at the pretty pictures but ignore the fluff that is written just to fill up space.
