A good painter can "blow in" the bad spots and make a repair that is practically undetectable.

Especially on the old cars that had straight enamel or lacquer paint, with no clear coat or metallic. They are much easier to match and blend than the new paints.

If there aren't too many bad spots this is the way to go. Of course if every panel is damaged then you might as well do a complete.

But if it was mine I would price a repair rather than a complete repaint.

I always get a laugh when I tell people I got my car painted at Earl Scheib, but they treated me right. They did the job for $400. I couldn't even buy the paint for that price.

Over the years i've seen some EXCELLENT Sheib jobs. Only a few that were a bit untidy but i do not know what condition they were in prior to Sheib.
