Guscha (or anyone).

What can u tell us about Sokol of Poland??? Were they strictly a 'clone' or copycat type manufacturer like ZIS,ZIL and Chaika???. Did they make any Packard clones????

Indian motocycles (not a misprint) had the hand throttle on the left, spark advance on the right, and gearshift on the left.

Harley Davidson the opposite.

Both had a clutch pedal on the left and brake pedal on the right, like a car.

There was no standardization of controls in those days.

As Rusty indicates there was no standard in those days. However, the left hand throttle and right hand spark control was most appropriate for military and Police operations. Most people are right handed and shoot guns with right hand. So the left throttle frees up the rite hand for combat/law enforcement requirements.
