Putting the front end of my '37 back together. Is the bushing that attaches the lower control arm to the center of the frame and the center link bracket a press fit? Also, does it need to be finely aligned, or just roughly aligned on assembly?
My thought was to mockup the assembly (I didn't remove the kingpin or lower control arm outer bearing as both felt tight), eyeball the alignment, and then put a very light coating of grease on the bushing and then drive to "press" it together with a vice (using a deep impact socket to press on the outer steel sleeve). Any advice is welcome. Also, the center post is not frozen, but rather seems slightly sloppy. What is required for a rebuild/how can I tell if I need one? EDIT: Disregard both questions. I took a look at the '38 shop manual and the Kanter catlog, which combined to answer both my questions. Thanks anyway!
