hello fellow Packard people
I am trying to remove the head from my 1953 patrician with little luck. all the nuts are off, and 7 of the studs came out with the nuts. I tried cranking the engine with the plugs in, but not enough compression to pop the head. will it be ok to use a chisel to wedge between the block and head or will this cause great damage. don't want to cause more work. any thoughts are helpful and appreciated.. Charlie

DON'T use a chisel, too blunt. You want something thinner, wider, and with a more gentle approach angle, like putty or spackle knives.

You might also see if your local hardware store has some small wooden wedges. They will work well after the after the Putty knife...Good Luck...Ernie
