exchange front/rear door handles?
Home away from home
Home away from home

Tobs
Is it possible to exchange the buttons (with lock mechanism) from front door handles with the door handles from rear doors?
I have a pair of door handles I took from a 4 door parts car and plan on taking the lock/pushbutton mechanism out. -The chrome on these door handels is a little better than what I have on my car now. Anybody know if this is possible or not possible?
Thanks forum!
Mike

Where that small rubber hose is there will be a larger diameter tube mounting the throttle body and the throttle body in turn will be connected to the "PackTronic" fuel injection unit. The "PackTronic" will be where the air cleaner connects to, on top, and the turbo's will draw air through it like it did on the engine it was originally off of. The fuel injector location is what I'm currently working on now, as I'm trying to figure out how to get two injectors to fit in a 1.5" tube, and as close to the engine as possible. The setup also had a 9th injector, that was originally a "cold start injector". Since I won't be driving this in very cold weather, I will be using it as a boost-operated injector, which provides additional fuel when under 5psi or more boost. All of this stuff will migrate over to the new engine when it arrives hopefully this week if it dries up enough.

Bird's eye view of the whole shebang, with the fuel injection unit shown prominently:

I need to move the Speedster closer to the center of the garage, as I only have about 16" between it and the south wall of the garage. Hence the closeness of this pic showing the valve cover-turned-air box:

Here you can see my garage helper, who's really good about clearing out spiders and crickets from my garage, he has a buddy somewhere in there but I couldn't find him to take his picture:

If you look at this pic, you'll see that a hood is not an option, as it all sticks up too high:

Some progress, more work on figuring out the turbos and how I'm going to put them on the car. The intake will have to be going up and over the top of the turbos, as the exhaust is in the way if I run them straight underneath. (Which I'd rather do, as I like straight intake runners with as few curves as possible, but the turbos will make up for any bends I'll have to make.) The valve cover is what I'm making the air box out of, actually this one that's from a Packard and one from a Hudson version which has no name. I'm going to cut the ends off of it and extend it about 6", using the ends of the Hudson valve cover to extend it. Then I'll have it chromed. If you like that, wait until you see the air cleaner!

I don't know of any easy way to check it either short of cutting an access panel in the side and corner of the trans tunnel. Your theory of why it leaks when it does is probably correct. To change the leaking seal is a bit involved but think possible without trans removal--& if that only leak maybe worth considering. 51Packards idea is the proper one, but he must be younger than we are (or maybe bend in more places better).

Am glad to see the adapter finally available as that does give some options for those inclined. Some have said they thought the 2004R would be a better choice for Packards though. Am also surprised to see the small gear reduction starter used with it as that pretty much dictates a change to 12v. Guess if you're doing a modern trans, modern electrics isn't a big stretch though.

Anyone seen these up close or have an idea to price? Their other kit prices seem to have a wide range.

I just throw mine up on 4 jackstands. I jack up the front first so it doesn't roll, install the stands, then jack up the back by the differential. When you have as many tranny problems as mine, you get quite fast at it!

Quote:

OK, your vehicle number (VN, not VIN) is 2672 4967. The 2672 denotes a 1953 Cavalier and the 4967 denotes that it is the 2967th Cavalier built (numbering started at 2001).

OK so to clarify, his is the 2967th Cavalier built, not the 2967th Packard built that year, correct? Each model of car would have a body number with a 2967 indicating the 2967th car of that model, not total production, unless of course they made less than that amount of that model.
