Re: Packard Mystery Part

Olly
Hi,
I wasn't 100% sure if it was a Packard part or not it was just when I bought it a year or so ago when I put in the number it came up under Packard which is why I believed Packard had something to do with it. And as I started doing more research into Packard it seemed like something they would of made. And I did know Massey Ferguson had a 1080 but I had already searched back as far as I could find and never found anything resembling it but thanks for the heads up none the less.

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.
'55 Clipper Deluxe. Engine is stuck-ish.

Hi,
Thanks could not of asked for a more clearer answer. Strange how I never thought to actually look at surgical tables.

It from the side of a surgical table. So nothing to do with anything automotive.

I don’t see any reason to believe this is Packard-related

Massey Ferguson made a model 1080. You might check that out

Here's a more up to date photo of the elusive Leeedy. Well 2018, that's as up-to-date as I have, when I met Leeedy and he autographed a copy of his book about Creative Industries in the Society of Automotive Historian's tent at Hershey.

Leon, if you don't want your "mug shot" appearing in PackardInfo just say the word and I'll delete the post in it's entirety.

It says Ten Eighty I know they've made One Eighty and One Twenty and I know the emblems for the One Eighty the script matches that of the Ten Eighty that I have. The only reference I found any reference to a 1080 was the sedan wagon but the picture was small and blurry so I couldn't see much detail. I will post some new pictures tomorrow that are clearer and I do appreciate your response.

Thanks for your response I will post another picture romorrow my phone isn't the greatest. I do know Packard partnered with Studebaker, and they also built engines for the war effort with Merlin and along with Rolls Royce and I believe they have been partners with Renault and few other in forgein countries. I'm no expert just what I've researched over the past year.

Finally had some free time today, so I got to work prepping all the interior bits for paint. The dash and window trim weren't terrible so I sanded them down with 400 until they were smooth. Might have a bit more to do. The steering column and upper door trim was in much worse shape. Large amounts of paint had flaked off over the years. So those pieces I stripped down to bare metal so I could start fresh.
At this point I have most of the pieces ready for paint.

The steering wheel is next. Over all not in bad shape. Only one out two cracks showing. The trim pieces pulled out with their retainers still attached. But they should still hold in there well enough.

I'm not sure what I should do to prep this thing for paint. It was repainted back when the body was painted (same color as the body, which is different from the color on the dash and steering column). I don't know what they did for prep. There is one small area of flaking paint, and the paint is rubbed off the finger knobs all the way around.
