I like louvers, on the right type of car. But in my opinion, a '55 Clipper is not the right type of car!

Hybrid,
Thanks for chiming in. No, she spent most if not all of her life in KC. The previous pics don't do the rust justice. The bottom 4 to 6 inches is toast. She was buried well up into frame level. Took a skid steer to get her out.
Interior - Something worse than desert sun... Raccoons. Passenger floor is out, and made for a good, multigenerational coon home.
Not arguing with your value thoughts. I don't expect to get any buyers. Just thought I'd throw it out there for the Purists. Personally, I want to part it. I think it will be fun, and a hotrod with a Packard drivetrain should be a conversation piece.
For the Tranny - Aware, and scared to death of it. I just love the steering column though. Even if I don't use it proper, I plan to use the gear selector to run lights, or something.
Let me know if you can't read all the VIN. Current car position doesn't allow me to open the door fully.
Cheers!

1937 120C horns
Home away from home
Home away from home

R Howe
Hi. I had a short that caused my horns to blare for a few hours while I was not at home and it seemed to damage the smaller of my horns. The larger one still works but the smaller one does not. Does anyone know of someone who might be able to repair this horn for me or even purchase another one?
Thanks.

I was never able to get the HF timing light to work on my 54. It would trigger even if not clipped to the plug wire. I ended up using an old school one that plugs inline into the plug wire.

As far as the district, pop off the cap and see if there is excessive side to side play anywhere.

Put some shims under the screws?

They would probably bend back into shape but I would be afraid to try.

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.
'55 Clipper Deluxe. Engine is stuck-ish.

The flashes will change speed and timing may be affected if the engine speed is not steady. You can check valve action with a compression test, which I would suggest you do. Compression pressure readings should be within 10% from lowest to highest. It's possible the timing light is not working correctly. The distributor shaft bushings can wear enough to allow the shaft to wobble slightly, which causes the point gap to change enough to affect timing. The shaft that the rotor attaches to should move freely with no discernable side play. A problem with the mechanical advance unit could cause the same problem. Broken or weak springs in the mechanical advance unit could cause erratic timing. * I'd double check the plug wires to make sure they are all seated correctly and in the correct firing order. It's easy to mix them up.

I believe the initial timing should be set at 5 to 7 degrees before TDC with the engine idling smoothly at about 500 RPM. At a faster idle or with a rough idle, it may be difficult to set the timing correctly since the mechanical advance may be coming into play or slack in the timing chain could cause erratic timing.

If you're not having fun, maybe it's your own damned fault.

Windshield in, trim back on and managed to save my inspection sticker.

I had the glass company repair and install the windshield and the guy that does their classics said he sanded a couple of the edges that were a bit sharp and he said this is the hardest glass he's seen. Is that a Packard thing?

Now, what to do about these uneven visors....
