Template for installing rear side fender louvers

I was reading in "the post war" Packard forum a string about, and showing pictures of, louvers on the rear fenders. I have a 24 and 26 series and decided to add louvers to mine. I'm in the process of buying them from another site member. I'm using 3 on each side and though I can somewhat ascertain by looking at the pictures to determine where to locate the louvers, I know there is probably a template "somewhere" showing exactly where to install them. Being a "fuss-budget" I'm asking for any help locating a template. I've been looking at the huge amount of info available here (great job Big Kev) I haven't been able to find any reference. Thanks in advance for any help.

I was able to get the front and rear original seat material for a 55 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer. They figured the amount of material and trim needed. Shipped it fast.....As for cost, I would have paid more to be able to get the original material.......I was very happy with the whole transaction.

The points opening and closing cause the coil to fire, build up a charge and re-fire over and over and over. More than likely the point gap needs to be checked, and reset if needed. Usually, when something stops working like you describe, go back and check the last thing you worked on. Stuff like this has happened to all of us. Hope this helps.

"You CAN get a specific few modern fans that will work, with some spacers to hold the pulley, in a bathtub. I think i used this one:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G4917/" Could you please explain what "some spacers to hold the pulley in a bathtub" means. I have a '51 Packard 200 with a 288 and some of the same heating issues.....It doesn't heat enough to overflow the radiator but the temp gauge shows a unnerving temp and causes me anxiety. I've learned to live with it but I like the idea of a more efficient fan. I checked the link and am interested.....However, I'm not sure a spacer is needed.....Did you use one? I can R and R the stock fan without pulling the radiator, is using the spacer with the longer bolts the reason to remove the radiator? Thanks, Steve........

Hi Jim in OR., I live right across the river in Vancouver WA. I have a '51 also and some parts. My cars are stored in Woodland 20 miles north. If I can help you with parts, information, leads, etc., contact me off this forum and we can talk.

I have a '51 and a '53 Packard. Some where along the line I acquired a '52 instrument cluster with the entire harness still attached. There is a little tape wrap which is mostly concentrated in the section about 6 to 8 inches from the back of the cluster and extends for........10 to 12 inches to keep the loom bundled together. (going from memory here)...anyway, It is hanging in my shop. If any pictures would help I'll be happy to take and forward some. The observation that trying to find an old replacement loom to exchange with your current wiring is correct....Some of the wires are great, some are bad, but all are very brittle and would be the worse for wear trying to get them in and out. As an aside, I had a complete loom made, from the gas tank to the under dash stopping at the fire wall. It was made by the out fit in Redlands, CA. I found it to be a lot of work.
Some things I just don't want to learn how to do any more. Where's my Scotch and soda????

Hi Ross thanks to you and Owen for the tips. I am going to return to the carb and try the metering rod adjustment first, then if needed I'll take the top off and re-check the float adjustment. But first, I think I need another scotch and soda.
Regards, Steve.....
