The 1940 Darrin weighed 4121 lbs. and the 160 convertible weighed 3825 lbs.. Lot of the wt. difference being the wood used in the doors and quarter panels on the Darrin...

They are used to secure the fender to the bracket that is attached to the side of the radiator cradle on all non clipper 1941 and 1942's... Located under the park light assembly...

The front shield assy. was made standard equipment April 1941..For some reason they were not listed when the 1935/41 parts list was revised April 1944.They are listed in the following: Service Parts Lists: Twentieth Series issued May 1942, and Clipper Service Parts List 1941-1942 110-120-160-180 issued January 1945 The group number is 2.0115 , the revised license bracket is also listed...D

Two shaft sizes were used on 1939 6 cyl.(1700). Cars prior to motor no. B6456 have a smaller diameter shaft, than cars after eng.B6455. The later shaft is the same size as all 1939 to 1942 all series,(except 12 ??).....D

The fender welt is always black...On the door hardware some is painted and some is plated, depending on the model....

Underside of the hood and fenders should be black. The only body color under the hood is on the firewall....

All 1940 Packards have a junction block on the left inner fender panel about 6" back from the radiator......

This was the first year for turn signals as std. equipment on all non Clippers (except model 2055 a 160 7 pass. business sedan) Using the 160/180 2 bulb taillight assembly made the switch to t/s much easier....The change in the upper lens groves might have something to do with
light direction or brightness????

The painted headlight door used on all series #358077 was superseded by the chrome headlight door #367803 after a few months production on all series.....
