Good Morning...Much of what the Packard suppliers have is not listed on their web sites...Far better to call them and discuss what you need. If who you start with does not have what you need...they will often refer you to who might/does have what you need. I found that building a relationship with suppliers, on the phone, pays off with more help and even friendship. Ernie in Arizona

Good Morning all...I think that this is a nice creative design. It's not a stock Packard, but many people could drive it and enjoy it. Someone had a bit of talent to build this machine! Big Kev is working on a 37 with a Jag engine!...for me, any Packard that is kept on the road, stock or modified is cool. Just my humble opinion...Ernie in Arizona

Good Morning...I would leave it red to reflect the car's history. Most likely the engine number may not match your registration due to the engine switch, unless the dealer put the original engine's number on the rebuilt engine. The other option, if the numbers match, is that the original engine was removed, rebuilt, and re-installed. Just one of the opinions you are apt to receive. Ernie in Arizona

Good afternoon...I play with Model A Fords as well as Packards and help out in a shop that works on them one day a week. We see lots of them that have parts from all four years 1928 to 1931. Some people don't seem to know or care and just drive and enjoy. As long as they did not pay too much and are happy...so be it. We had one come in that was painted all white, including fenders...we told he guy that he had comitted a sin! He smiled and said 'The wife likes it! I suspect the same is true here. Someone obtained an unloved car, prehaps after an accident, improved it, made it roadable...and may not know that the parts are from different years and models or even care! The parts at least more or less fit...At least it is a Packard and it is on the road!...all in all not too bad for a trip for Ice Cream on Saturday night with the Grand Kids. For a purist...Oh My God, It's a nightmare! Ernie in Arizona

Good afternoon...Start by removing the bottom drain in the case and cleaning and flushing the transmission and shifting system until all is nice and clean...take your time and get it really clean...Our 1949 is filled with 140 transmission gear oil...old fashioned Dinosaur juice. Look carefully at the connection from the bottom of the steering column, from under the car, and the two shifting arms. One is reverse and first, the other is second and third. When we did ours, we replaced the washers with ones that fit quite snug and with the new oil...the transmission has shifted fine for about 10 years. The key with ours was that there was too much slack between the shifting arms and the turnbuckel connections...once the slack was out...all was happy. Others more skillful than I, will no doubt have more to say...Ernie in Arizona

You might check to see if one of the weights in the distributor have come off their post and are shorting to the case. This can happen by the violent shock in some sorts of accidents. It happened on Miss Prudence from just simply wear over 70 years~! Ernie in Arizona
