Never heard about Packard using an experimental aluminum block. Could those who know about this please share with the rest of us - in a separate posting in the pre-war section. Thanks.

Read the Craigslist ad for the '38 and I think you will understand.

The CL ad for the '47 shows no interior pics at all.......wanna guess why? Don't think Wat will be interested in this one, since Fred turns her nose up at 6-cylinders.

The '38 sedan is priced that high because it has the rare experimental "aluminum engine" in it that was installed in that car by mistake.

The '40 is gorgeous!

RogerDetroit and acolds, thank you for your comments. And acolds, thanks for providing the .pdf on the Master Salesmen program!

I'll have to do some searching on this site to see what else I can find. I keep forgetting that this site is so much more than just a forum!

By the way, here is one other thing I have of my Dad's. I had posted it a while back, but some may not have seen it - a pen holder and clock set, pics below.

RogerDetroit, thank you for the info and the link. Lots of nice Packard items in that auction, and I'm surprised at how reasonable some of them went for.

As for my Dad's ring, he would have received that from Packard in the 1950s, so I wonder about the ring in the auction being listed as from the 1930's.

Small Packard Dealer Items and Sales Awards

Was going thru various items of my Dad's from when he worked at the family Packard dealership (Packard Hempstead in Hempstead, LI, NY; and Warta Motors (Studebaker/Packard/Mercedes/Auto Union) in Merrick, LI, NY. Thought there might be some who would like to see pictures of the Packard items.

1) First three pictures -- a Packard ring with a red stone and a diamond, with my Dad's name engraved on the inside. I assume this was some type of sales award. Sure would like to know what level of sales this was for, if it was a sales award.

2) Fourth picture -- the back plate from a Benrus watch, engraved with "AWARDED FOR OUTSTANDING SALES ACHEIVEMENT PACKARD-CLIPPER DIVISION 1955". Apparently the watch must have broke, and only the back plate was saved (unfortunately).

3) Fifth and sixth picture -- key blank marked "Golden Anniversary Packard".

4) Seventh picture -- Packard crest tie pin.

5) Eighth picture -- Packard "V" tie pin.

Any comments on these would be greatly welcomed and appreciated!

6) Ninth picture -- a Packard crest that was apparently attached to something, not sure what.

Here is my contribution, from my Grandfather's photo album. Don't know the history of this. I am not sure if my Grandfather was one of the drivers pictured or not.

It looks to have a 'Deluxe' script on the driver's side fender, and a 'Super' script on the passenger side fender. Double hmmm
