I think the heat shields for 48-50 were only on the 356's. I have a 356 from 1948 and one from 1950. They both have heat shields.

I'd suggest you take a look at the 1948-1954 Parts Manual on this website (Parts Group 30.874 Page 464). Although there are three different part numbers for the radiator grill (we are talking about just that one piece of chrome directly under the hood and in front of the radiator yes?) there is a great deal of cross series (22nd/23rd) utilization depending on model number. The primary difference being Standard vs Custom.

Here's 4 views of the instrument cluster. Held camera with one hand and a drop light with the other so it's not exactly Ansel Adams quality.

Mal, I have a spare '41 instrument cluster that came with the Limo. If you think it would help, I can take some pictures of it for you. All I can see that would appear to be the attachment points are two tabs; one right and one left with two holes each.

They don't look like any bumper guards I've ever seen on the front bumper of any year of Packard. Not so sure of the back bumper. They look similar to the front bumper guards on the '57 Ford. I guess no cigar for me.

Mike,
I don't know if you and your 180 are still in Missouri but if so, you can use the 14512124 as the VIN number. Both my Packards are registered here in MO using the data plate number... no problem. Previous registrations (California for the '41 Limo and Illinois for the '50 Custom Sedan) also used the data plate number. Any other state you'll have to check with your department of motor vehicles. Welcome to the world of Packards.

Yeah... probably as practical in the rain as the wood veneer window garnish on my 180!

Convertibles, Hardtops and a low beltline. I think there's a limit to how much sheet metal you can tuck under the car. Very cool!

I agree with Randy and HH56. I think Item 1 could be your Light Switch indicator. Located just above the headlight switch, it comes on when either the parking or headlights are on.
PS... I use a digital camera to document every single thing I do on my Packards (particularly any disassembly). It's saved my bacon on many occasions. And digital film is SO cheap!
