To avoid the problem again, try typing in word, wordpad, or works, text edit-- what ever text program is on your computer and saving that. Then when you are ready, select it all and copy, then paste into the reply form. Looking forward to your comments.

I'm not sure what you mean by no right to comment. All are welcome to comment and I for one would very much like professional opinions on most all. The login session does time out and that may be what happened as the message does say something along those lines.
If you took a long time and the login did time out, one trick a lot of us have got into the habit of doing on longer posts is to just before you click the submit button, highlight all the text you typed and then edit and select copy. That way if it did time out, once you log in again and assuming you didn't copy anything else, then all you have to do is go back to the forum post, select the reply button again and then do an edit and paste and all you wrote should appear again. Photos would have to be selected again, then redo the submit. Some also type all long replies in word or another text program and then when ready, copy all of that to the reply box.

I have SSB319 and 320. Kev will need to provide the FTP info again because they are too large for attachments.

Are they two separate units front & back or do the ends slide in that center piece depending on width needed?

Being AM monaural, probably not the best dynamic range to start--even with the RediRad or similar to play the mp3s back with. If you do try a different speaker, it takes 4 ohm type. The hum may be due to a capacitor suffering from old age or if it is the vibrator buzz you are hearing, no noise solid state replacements are available.
If you're not a stickler for authenticity, have you considered getting a modern system that fits into the dash with no modifications. That way you could keep the original intact to put back in. One of our posters from Europe put one in his car and, IIRC, was quite pleased with the looks and sound. (If you did go that way, think I would put something behind the face plate to protect the dash screen.) I don't remember where he put the speakers.http://www.retrosoundusa.com/products/details/id/141 Another option might be an additional radio. I saw one very clever install where a person made a mount that went under the dash. Moved down & out to use and slid back and up out of sight. A sort of semicircular bracket on each side of a small head only type unit. Not sure where he put the remainder but under the passenger seat if no heater there or trunk good candidates.http://www.casmfg.com/Secretaudio.htm

I like the badge bar. Is that original Packard accessory or aftermarket???? Very nice accessory either way.
Accssory. Notice the bottom right item in this 1946 dealer acc section. Lights are on the left but not too distinct.

Believe the bulletins recurring theme is is make sure there is absolutely no wear in the bushing and pivot points anywhere on linkage. The early rubber bushings were replaced with steel ones. No detent wear and properly adjusted linkage so detents at shifter forks in trans fully engage. Several have mentioned light engine oil to lubricate the lower selector arms and mechanism via the small hole in steering/gearshift column just above where they nest is needed also.

Dave, I'm sorry to beat you on this one but you beat me to the other post on the fuel compensator.
If I had the brain cells turned on, would have posted the switch part here with the text and locations pics first time but seem to do things in spurts these days. Just now added the pic of a light and mounting bracket.

Here is a factory pict of the 22nd series backup light showing it at the left of license plate.https://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=8829&cid=50
and another of the later series showing it in the same place.https://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=5781&cid=52 The factory switch was on a bracket at the end of steering column and generally was a 2 terminal switch on cars with light only and no OD or on those with early R9 ODs if the lockout mod was never made and on the R11s. The 4 terminal sw was used on later R9 ODs with the reverse lockout. If you have the R9 with lockout, the unused reverse switch part should be there already. If not, what you wind up with will depend more on the kit you find or buy. There may be more than one style but one I've seen mounts to the gravel shield in front of bumper via about a 5/16 hole. EDIT: Thanks to BDeB for showing the correct one. The bracket on the one I show does look a little crude for Packard. It does allow mounting on either plane so may be aftermarket. It came off a car of that era but could have been added by anyone--even a dealer using one of his own choice instead of the factory unit.
