Thanks, tbird!

So even though the 1932 was CALLED a Twin Six, it is the same design that was used until 1939 but later called the Twelve, right?

12 cylinder Packard questions...

Packard made the Twin Six in the teens and 20's, correct?

Was the Twin Six manufactured THROUGHOUT the 20's?

And when was the Packard Twelve introduced?

I was just at the AACA Forum page where the gentleman was talking about restoring the Packard museum's 1932 Twelve (or is this one still a Twin Six?).

I came here after that to look at the model info, because I thought no Twelves were manufactured until later in the 1930s...

EDIT: Okay, I went back THROUGH the model info and I see that the Twin Six ended in 1923.

Therefore, the 1932 Packard on the AACA forum (sorry, I don't have the link) is NOT a Twin Six (even though it's referred to as one), but is a Twelve, correct?

I don't suppose the Packard is mounted on a Clipper frame w/TL, is it? You and I had comments going back and forth on that possibility w/an early Packard running a V-8...

It's lovely, and kudos to its owner/builder for the Packard V-8!

I like your train of thought, Matt!

GP cars of the 1930s are beautiful, IMHO...

You're correct...in Ward's book, he's quoted as saying he didn't want the job, and felt he wasn't qualified for it...

Thanks cortcomp. Any recommendations on where I can find a 6V battery? We'll see if that old girl turns over after 25 or so years.

I don't know how you find them, but there are at least several threads on here regarding all the things to watch out for/test/check/refill/replace/adjust/do or not do when attempting to start a Packard that's sat for a long time!

Turbopackman is a good one to PM or ask, e.g.....

And to throw another monkey wrench into the works...THEORETICALLY, one COULD install/adapt modern EFI to a Packard V-8, yes? An aftermarket setup, e.g.?

Hugh Ferry: Packard's most underrated president?

Re-reading James Ward's book, I paid special attention to chapter 5, entitled 'The Ferry Years'.

It was Ferry who...

* planned the production of Packard's first V-8

* bought the patent rights for T-L suspension

* contracted to have the Pan American built

* brought new blood into Packard's boardroom

* started the company's first executive pension plan

* first championed a merger to keep Independents in business

* focused Packard's attention on its advertising efforts

* and brought in an outsider (Nance) to turn it around

Thoughts?

Well, NOW I know why I've never seen a '55 with PB! I just assumed the ones I saw with shift levers were either factory or the previous owner got fed up w/the PB...
