Same message on the mountings. Like Owen_D, mine had also separated totally.

Very happy with the pair on the car now from Kanter. Even with the cost of shipment to Aus, I still felt they were good value compared to any repair method.

IMHO you have got some big horses to move a big machine, that's a lot of torque on the mountings, ...better hold them well!

Cheers

G'day Mal

Thanks for catching up on the phone tonight, and for letting me know to anxiously await your next post.

Great news!

Let me congratulate you on this forum for the superb work you have done in getting this beauty on the road. It will be a delight to see it at the PACA National in March.

The LHD things works fine once you get out and about. It is the passenger that has the weirdest experience, because they don't have a wheel and pedals for security like in our RHD cars, ...and they get to stare at the oncoming traffic!

Once again congratulations and also for being a super packardinfo citizen.

Good onya mate!

Hi Jim

Looks like we are now out earlier than first hoped - may not make it to Phoenix.

I will keep an eye out for you at the meet.

Warm regards

Hi Mal

Thanks for nomination (whatever it is), another good reason to be out of the country!

Just had a few hassles getting the bookings lined up on the 12th, all on FF points.
Looks like we will now have to fly out of LA on the 9th (drat)

Cheers

Hi Big Kev

You better keep an eye out for this Aussie too (or an ear for the accent). I want to especially say g'day and shake your hand for putting together and maintaining this great site.

Thanks Chuck (Boro) for starting this thread and prompting the possibility of making the trip. My business has a quiet Jan - Feb but I didn't get much of a break this time. So when I saw the PI swap, ...well that looked interesting? It will also be our first trip to continental US.

It took a little effort to get Joanne interested in the 13hr flight from Sydney but it is looking like we fly 29th pm and arrive LA 29th am. With the PI meet at the Doubletree Hotel Orange and only 2 miles from Disneyland, that also got 9yo son Daniel real keen. Couldn't get any of his much older sisters out of their work, so it looks like a male dominated team!

After LA, we plan to take a drive that takes in Phoenix, Moab UT, LV, Fresno, SF and down the coast to fly from LA on Feb 12th.

Hope to meet many of you,

Warm regards

Hi Doug

Even though I am a long way away in Australia, I got some rocker panels for my 56 shipped from the States. They came from Mike Dulinski. His address is 5590 Howard Gnesen Rd, Duluth Mn 55803 Phone 218-721-4631.

Mike was extremely helpful, knows Packards real well and is also a member on this site under 440PACSLER.

I initially considered some of the panels on e-bay, but would now ring Mike first to get his opinion on any panels before looking elsewhere.

I trust you have a similar, helpful experience.

Best regards

I must agree with GTO on 56. They were very innovative mechanically and yet not overly flashy. If you compare the styling of 56 Packard over similar era Caddy (with that dickey looking tailight that wouldn't die in the early 50's) you would have to say Packard was classy and stylish, ...not at all gaudy.

Thanks Mal for giving the 56 a plug, I drive my 400 anywhere now that the reliability is back into it. That is pretty good for a 50yr plus car.

But then look at the classy pic of 10th series John contributed. The 10th and 11th series were briliantly conservative but oh so classy. Or the 41, 42 180's. - magnificant lines, Or the sweetness of the 36-39 Coupes. Or the transition from drum lighted 4th series 8's into the style of 6, 7, 8 series - truly beautiful machinery emerging.

You might be getting the picture, I am not just a 56 lover GTO - they are all great in their own right and time!

Best regards

Hi Hank
Prayers coming from Aust as well.

Agree with others they are a blessing, ...and the really, best thing that can happen in your life. (even though sometimes parenting feels like you are being pecked to death by a chicken!)

Seriously they are a joy - we just had dinner tonight with some European business guests and it was just great to see my 4 interacting so well and naturally with them. Made this old bloke real proud I gotta tell ya!

Our girls are 25 + 8 mnth boy, 21, 19 and the little bloke is 9.

Great times ahead Hank, take every moment in thanks for the opportunity to be a parent, God bless your family.

Russ J and family
