Good Afternoon Mal...It looks/sounds like you are still sorting the old girl out...funny the way they only show us one or two problems at a time...I think they want to show us how important they are by constantly giving us something to think about. We've had Miss Prudence six years now, and she still gives us a reminder once in a while of just how important she considers herself! Ernie in Arizona

That 48 has really had David scratching his head! He doesn't need to do that very often! Ernie, neighbor in Arizona

Good Morning...I drove our 49 Deluxe to breakfast yesterday. The old girl ran just like she should. Overall, about 18 miles in Scottsdale, Arizona. The low was about 50 and the high about 72 or so. I might take her to Barnes and Noble a bit later today and read a few car magazines and have a cup of coffee. Ernie in ARizona

Good afternoon...Some states like Arizona have private companies that will/are allowed to handle registration for an extra fee. They don't receive any payment from you unless they can obtain a valid registration for you. If your state allows this service, they are usually more interested in helping you than the state run 'Department of Motor Vehicles'...Ernie in Arizona

Good Morning Ross...What an interesting comment. I would have never thought that a person's thumb could move a Packard head like that! We/I learn something new on this site every day that I have time to open it and read. Thanks very much for schooling me. Ernie in Arizona

Good Morning all...I have a question that goes with this discussion. At what point should a head be planned? Are there a couple of minor problems that might lead us to want to plane a head that should not be planned and are there a couple of problems that would definitely make it necessary to plane a head? I think guidance in this area would be very helpful to many who don't know how to judge these problems correctly. Thank you, Ernie in Arizona

Good afternoon...perhaps a really off the wall question, sort of outside the box, but could Packard have cut down the piston size by installing a sleeve into the bore to bring down the diameter of the piston...not unlike what is done to refresh an old block, except a much thicker sleeve.

Just a short note. The Model 'A' Fords that Henry sold in Great Brittan had smaller engines than the ones sold here...not too unusual perhaps...Ernie in Arizona
