Thanks for the info, I will take a hard look at the wiring before I attempt the removal. I had hoped there was a special tip that would make it easier, but I know now my back will pay for getting this done. Did you put both nuts back on or just the easy one?

Is there any trick or helpful hint on removing the two screws from the bottom of the instrument panel under the dash? I can't lay on my back very long to make an extended attempt. I need to replace all lights and also see if I can get the speedo cable connected and operate.

Thanks, this is a relief for me. I was very concerned about the support. The floor pans have been repaired, but not replaced. They are sheet steel welded and bonded to the old floor, then covered with POR15. They feel very solid and I am now thinking the flexing was done before the repair job, as the flex spots were repaired(welded) also.
Thanks again, I am always pleased to get such good info on this site. Any time I have a solution I try to get it on line as soon as I can.

No answer or suggetion so far, do I just have brackets welded in different spots than the rusted originals? It looks as though the car has flexed a few times as I can see welds on both sides of the car on the door frame and rocker panels.

My 54 Clipper runs about 25 to 30 pounds of oil pressure when driving. I am concerned that this is a little low. I am using Rotella 15w40 as my oil of choice.

Reading the blogs here I keep seeing that that the Ultramatic in High range should have a torque converter lock in at a highway speed. I don't know if mine is doing this or not. I thought I felt it change when driving around 55 or 60, but only the one time. Now it seems to stay the same. If I plug in a tach what should I see in RPM difference if the Ultramtic does lock in to the torque converter? My Ultramatic is not a gear start.
