After 35+ years of enjoyment we have sold our 49 convertible. It was time to find someone more able to give it the care it deserved.

I have a pair that needs polished, but otherwise look good. I believe the same trim will fit either side. Asking $20 each plus shipping. Thanks and good luck,

He is a fine young man. I was just trying to plant the Packard seed so he or one of his friends might keep the Packard name alive.

Busy day for our Packards

It was a busy weekend for two of our Packards. Our granddaughter age 14 wanted to be driven to Homecoming Prom in our 1948 sedan. Six young adults plus several parents were impressed with the transportation. Our grandson age 16 wanted to drive our 1949 convertible to his Homecoming Prom which was 80 miles away. After a quick lesson on how a three on the tree worked and a few laps around the parking lot the grandson was off with a big smile to pick up his date and another couple and off for pictures then to the prom. I'm not sure who had more fun, me, the parents, or the teenagers.

You might try a crush washer
like ones used on brake hoses or spark plugs.

Chris, I had a 1949 that acted as you describe your 39 is doing. A previous owner had the tank sealed, installed a electric fuel pump and rebuilt the carb and mechanical fuel pump. I thought there must be a electrical problem but after replacing the ignition system the problem still existed. I found the problem was in the gas tank. I found several gobs of sealer floating around in the tank. when driving one would get sucked up and block the pick-up tube. After I sat stalled for several minutes the pressure would release and the debris would fall back into the tank only to repeat the problem. Packardtaximan
