Re: New Gas Tank Issue

My new tank is the same, no gas smell from back there in 1100 miles so far. I'm very happy with the tank, so much better to go brand new than try to string along old junk and my old tank was surely junk.

Perhaps smelling gas from in the rear indicates the rear seat and trunk areas are not tight.

The hole is 3/4" diameter, I found some universal sockets that fit perfectly. Luckily the underlying pot metal wasn't pitted, I lightly bead blasted the area to clean it up and I might see if I can get a little solder to stick after I crimp the sockets in place, to ensure a good ground. That's a good idea, thanks.

Thanks guys, I'll measure things tomorrow and then I can look for options. I'll let you know what I find.

I'm going through my spare grille parts and the front turn signal light bulb sockets are toast. Does anyone have a lead on a replacement part? The sockets crimp into the housing.

Packard was hoping to carve out a niche market with the Partition, but sadly they left the door open to competition and thus was born the Cubicle

most likely the seal is bad in the Ranco valve. Repair kit at NAPA is about $10 if you want to tackle it yourself. I believe there is a "how to" on this website somewhere, look in the literature section. I've also seen articles and videos on the internet.

Interesting idea, I can see how that would work great. But, do you worry about dirt etc getting in there - either gumming up the works or just coating everything and sort of defeating the purpose?

There is a little clip that fits into that notch in the end, you'll have to take the switch apart
