Thanks! I see Max has the seal for 15$. Guess I will look around to find something locally before I order.

53 clipper rear axel seals
Home away from home
Home away from home

Hi all,
planning a clean up and new seals all around on my rear axle, and came across a few questions before I start. I already have 12.012 pinion seal and 12.0315 the seals for the ends of the axels, but what is 12.0341 "Seal-shaft nut oil"? Can I just cut a new gasket for this, or what?
Also, I was planning to also cut myself a gasket for 12.0035 the Diff Carrier to rear axle case, but it looks like this is some sort of seal and not just a paper gasket. What is actually in there?...Hope to open the axel up on sunday, but thought I would try and smarten up before tearing things apart! My drum puller better be up to the task....
Thanks for any tips/advice. (counting the threads and "exact position as before" regarding the pinion seal I am already aware of)
Mike

Well, I got one corner of the suspension together and a freshly powder coated brake backing plate on the chassis yesterday. Tied the floor jack to the frame with tie downs and centered the kingpin support in the end of the lower A arm with 1/8 inch clearance on either side. All torqued up and soon will change the 'bobby pin' things for correct cotter pins. Hot as 'H E double hockey sticks' here these days.
Not as pretty as it all could be, but still pretty good. Scratched up the frame a little with the tie dows, but I guess that is par for the course.
Will be cool when the wheels go back on!

No real Progress today, but my girlfriend katrin helped me out and we cleaned my bay in the Shop as part of my Birthday present! I feel like a lucky Guy!
Made some more room and cleaned things up so i hope I can find things better as the car starts going back together.
Also Gusha gave me some advice on where to find a meaty drum puller here in Germany. So that is in the mail, should be here next week! Danke Gusha!

Thanks for the plan Ross. Bolts that are about 3 inch long I can get at the one place in Munich that sells SAE bolts.
A plate I can "drum up" someplace (haha), and drilling the holes should not be to big a deal. We have a drill press in the shop.
Good excuse for me to get myself the impact gun for my birthday

Anybody near munich have a good brake drum puller? I broke this one (one leg out of five broke) yesterday. It really only pulls, and it not good to hammer on, so I guess it is not going to work.
Almost got the front Suspension back together, so will soon have one Axel back together... Brought back brake lines and Clips from my trip to the US, so the lines can go back in soon. Also got my shipment from Steel, but they only sent me 10 Body Mount bushings instead of the 16 I ordered! rats, have to call them and see if they will send me the ones I paid for :-/ hope so...

I'm not familiar with the 55-56 easamatic BLS (BrakeLightSwitch) but the earlier cars have a hydraulicly activated switch. The Switch is staying on, either becasue of a fault in the Switch (internal short) or there is somehow hydraulic pressure remaining in the System after you take your foot off the brake.
-I hope that helps, and isn't just re-stating what you already knew. Be careful working on that Switch, becasue one side of the Switch should be 'hot' all the time. If you're not careful you can make some sparks with a wrench creating a ground.

BdeB, thanks for the drawings! They are also useful for most of The body mounts on my 53 Clipper!
Good documentation

Anybody have a pic of where the bumpers go? I think they were long gone on my clipper and might want to put them back.
