Just a quick note to let everyone know I'm going to start reproducing the Comorant hood ornament and cap as in this picture.

The mold is in work and I should have the first one ready in just a few weeks.

Thanks,

Hi all,

Just wanted to let everyone know that I am now reproducing the Sliding Boy hood ornament and radiator cap.

Here's a fresh casting which obviously still needs to be plated.

I'll have the final product pictures posted in a couple of weeks.

Thanks,
Crin

Clock repair recommendations
#93
Home away from home
Home away from home

LOL
Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a place to have my clock restored? It works on occasion and I think it's time (no pun intended) that I get it fixed.

I found a local clock repair shop but he has asked me what the amperage draw is for the clock and I have no idea how to answer that. I obviously know the voltage (6 V) but have no idea what the amperage would be.

Thanks for the help,
Crin

A quick note about LED bulbs and turn signals
#96
Home away from home
Home away from home

LOL
Hi all,

I was out cruising the other day and someone at a light told me that my brake lights were out. I replied that it's a 6 Volt system and they're not out but just really hard to see in sunlight.

That got me thinking that perhaps I should try and find some LED bulbs to replace the ones I have in an effort to help the brake light situation out.

I found the right bulbs for my application but then when I tried to turn my signals on and nothing happened. So I started poking around and found out that you need a special LED flasher in order to make the blinkers work. The regular flashers work on current draw. Since the LED bulbs have very little draw they won't trigger the flasher.

Here's the website where I found both the bulbs and flasher:

Flasher
https://www.ledlight.com/flasher-6-volt-led-3-prong-120-watt-positive-chassis.aspx

I won't link the bulbs because they might have a different base than your application but that same website has quite a variety.

You all may have already known this ... lol ... I didn't - so I just thought I would post this to help anyone else out.

I'm just now getting ready to pull the pan off the car. Got a newly rebuilt pump ordered from Max Merritt so off I go ... what are the odds that the day I decide to make some major mods to the car is the day the pump goes out on me ...

Thank you everyone for your input. I appreciate it.

OK new question -

I think it's my oil pump. I think it gave out. I removed the oil pressure regulator and started the engine and I expected to see a strong stream of oil come out the side of the block. I didn't see anything other than a small trickle of oil.

Would you agree that it's the pump? And if so, who rebuilds these?

Thanks again,
Crin

So by me allowing the oil to free flow (bypass the filter) it's affecting the oil pressure? Just want to make sure I fully understand this before I break something else... Lol

Thanks

1936 - 1401 - std 8 - oil pressure / cooler question
Home away from home
Home away from home

LOL
Hi all,

So in my infinite wisdom, I've decided to remove the oil cooler and welded a piece of curved pipe to the inside of the oil cooler cover. I also replaced the oil filter and changed the oil and now I have no oil pressure - zero ...

So my question is does anyone know whether the oil cooler has an effect on oil pressure. I'm starting to think that the restricted flow through the cooler might and by me allowing it to flow freely through a 1/2" diameter pipe I 'broke' it.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Crin
