Break out view of the 47 Steering Wheel
Home away from home
Home away from home

Wesley Boyer
Hi well I'm back, after being laid up with a broke leg for the pass four months. I keep breaking bones that are hard to heal, one in my right hand (back in the 90's), outer bone of my left foot (back in the 2000's) and now the right leg (playing Racquetball).
So I figured this would be a good time to work on Blackie, Turn Signal not canceling. Now I've opened up another can of worms. So first off I found out why my horn wasn't working, somebody had cut the horn wire, And while reading on this forum I can see that the Signal Cancel comes up every so often. So there's a lot of good information on this web site.
I figured I would put my talent to work and make a Break out view as I go. plus it helps me remember how to put things back together. So if you ever need it I hope you find it useful.
Wes

Didn't we have a simular problem like this last year on this forum and it turned out to be the battery? I'm just throwing that out there to see if anybody remembers that problem.

I was just talking with one guy that was using a three lug puller and he stripped one of the studs, so if you can go with a five stud puller, a lot of people have done okay with a three stud puller. So good luck.

Big Kev, I know what you mean but it would be better to say Hub Puller then drum puller because there is a difference.
I hope you don't mind the correction.

Going through my treasures of old magazines and newspapers. I would like to find a good home for all of them. I have about 20 years worth of The Packard Cormorant and I would like to donate them to a worthy cause. Looking for a place where they would be well used.
Wes
p.s. my wife thinks I'm a pack rat also have Old Cars Weekly from the 90's and motocross magazines from the 80's

Looked at the parts book for the 41-47 and they listed two, one chrome and the other painted.

Also if you upgrade from the R9 to the R11, checkout the manual on this web site. I will post something to look into, since my 47 has the R11 installed and I can not use reverse without disengaging the overdrive.

Re: 47 Overdrive

Thanks to all for the help so far, notice I did say "so far" that means I'm still going. Got a wrench off ebay "AN8505-19 Offset Open End Service Wrench 1 ?" 1 7/16". A little long to use so I cut one end off.
It came off very easy, must have been removed before and put back on with just a 1/8 of turn after it stopped turning by hand.
So I've started taking the unit apart and cleaning it up. Now I wondering if anyone would have a manual for this unit or maybe what should and should not be lubed.
As always thanks for any and all suggestions.
Wes
P.S. Also looking at using a cabinet knob the the Overdrive Cable.
