Sorry, i was referring to the pressure and return lines for the filter and not the actual canister mounting holes.
However that just brings up more questions about holes.

Is there a service bulletin that describes the addition of an oil filter?

Here are pictures of the front of the 2 blocks. Below the blocks are the casting marks(dates) of the blocks. The one on the left came out of the car. The one on the right is a NOS block. The one with 45 has small tappets the one on the right marked 46 large tappets. The areas in yellow are where the holes don't match.

It looks like the block on the right is a direct replacement for the original 1937 version which used a different water pump and front cover plate, hence the mismatch in bolting for the parts from the engine that was in the car.

The 1945 casting date for the block on the left would suggest that it came from a 1946 Clipper.

I took the back plate off the water pump to line up the holes. I guess the old block had the wrong water pump "sort of" installed.
Holes line up on the NOS block except for the one above the water tube.

BDeB appears to be correct.
The new block is the old style.
My last concern is the front cover plate refereed to. What's different?
