Actually, I prefer the sedan styling over the touring sedan for the slant back look in these 1935-37 junior cars. Much cleaner look in my opinion. It has a built-in trunk, but not extended like the touring sedan's bustle.

It is the interiors the Sportsterss made them special. This one is gone. So what do you have besides the patent plate?

Hi JW

"It is the interiors of the Sportsters that made them special. This one is gone. So what do you have besides the patent plate?"

Not much, the Sportsters were a pretty pallid effort: a plain-jane Clipper Special club sedan with hardtop-style interior and chrome B-pillar trims.....for a $261 price premium. Surprisingly, they still moved 3,671 of them. It was supposed to appeal to hardtop buyers, that style the hot new item then. One wonders whether they couldn't have ginned-up a less-expensive version of the Mayfair, something of a Clipper Panama for '53?

Of that particular California car, body looks solid, has the Senior grille overlays and bumpers. I'd like a set of those B-pillar stainless trims to fit on a '53-'54 Cavalier or Patrician.
