Early stages of rebuilding my 1939 Packard six. Engine going to machine shop this week, builder asking if I have specs. Some specs exist in the Shop Manual, but not all. Looks like I may be able to open a dozen shop notes and gather them but hoping their is 1 place that lists everything I will need
Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

John

Hi

I have a 1953 Chilton's with engine overhaul spec's back to 1940 that includes the 245 ci six.
What specific spec's do you need?
Let me know here or pm, I'll give you what they have.

Hi John,

The machine shop guys that re-did my 245 had a spec-sheet with everything on a single page. I believe he gave me a copy and I have it somewhere. If Steve's Chilton sheet doesn't have everything that you need, let me know and I will do a 'deeper dive' for mine. It's possible they are the same thing though, as I don't know my shop's source on the info they had. Chris.

Motors and Chilton manuals are often offered for sale on Amazon. I recommend buying one for your Packard.

I had a number of them that covered the years from 1935 to 1955. They were invaluable when I was working on my 37, 47 and 55 Packards. I gave them to a restoration shop in Austin when we moved to Santa Fe last year. They use them all the time in restoration work on vintage vehicles.

It was also interesting to look at the older, pre-war, issues to read about the makes that have disappeared from the scene.
