54 Caribbean windlace
#11
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

Leon "Pete"
It appears that our 54 Caribbean had green cloth windlace all around. (The interior is green and ivory) I spoke to someone at SMS and they told me that the windlace was originally made from the same vinyl material as portions of the interior. I have also seen 54 Caribbeans with the color of the windlace matching the color of the paint that was closest.

What material and color is correct?

Thank you for any information.

Thank you. Is the escutcheon chrome, painted to match the interior or upholstered to match? I have no idea. The photos that I have seen are so far away it is hard to say, Thank you for any information.

I am trying to determine if all or part of this interior door handle is correct for our 1954 Caribbean. Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you both for the information. It seems that although all leather may look good, it is really not the right way to go. I did not know about the Roster Keepers, I will try that.

I am having trouble with a couple of issues with getting a new interior for the Caribbean. The first is that it is my understanding that Caribbeans have a combination of both leather and vinyl interior. With vinyl being the correct material for the back of the front seats.

I have been told by an individual who has owned many different cars, including very nice Packards, that when replacing the interior, only leather should be used. He says that even at a strict judging, the fact that all leather was used will not cause a point deduction. Is this correct?

My Dad is also having issues with picking a supplier from various leather samples that we have received. None seem to closely match the colors of the leather found in protected areas like the underside of the rear seat. Does anyone know how to insure that we would be purchasing the correct color? We have a Sahara Sand and Gulf Green car that originally had a Green and White interior. Dad wants to make sure that we get the right shade.

Thank you.

Does anyone know what the proper pattern is on the trunk lining and where to buy it? I know that the trunk walls had a mixture of I believe (animal hair?) and paint, but what about the flooring? Thank you!

I am referring to the interior mirror in the front window. The non-mirrored side of the mirror is flat gray, while the post that attaches it to the window molding is chrome-plated.

Thank you. I hadn't noticed it before, but the flat gray just didn't look right.
