I need to inspect the rear drums of my '50 deluxe eight. I have looked at the available literature here and the service manual and it appears that the rear drums and hub assembly only come off together as a unit and a puller is necessary? So the hub must come off as well if the drums need to?

If the hub does need to come of to remove the drum, and a puller is needed, is a universal screw type ok, or is a specific model necessary? Thank you!

No, I cannot even get to that point. Whatever gear I put it in it dies at once. Fuel filters are clean.

thanks all!

It's an Ultramatic. It was running quite well then this happened. I did have new points, condenser and rotor put on and adjusted. It does have an issue with the carb and that needs to be cleaned out, but the engine runs well until it's put into gear, so I don't know about a fuel issue. I just made the transition from classic Buicks to Packards, so some things are new to me. What vacuum line could potentially cause this type of problem?

I have a '50 Deluxe 8. The engine runs well, but when I put it into any gear it clunks and the engine dies almost immediately. Any suggestions on what may be the issue?

Thanks!
