Hello,

Von Rudolph car was built as a concept/California custom movement but was never completed - a demonstration of how a Packard Custom Coupe/convertible could be modified into a roadster. It was finished like the week before last and still needs clean up, plus some fine detailing (which I will do in the next week or two). The fellow who created was a Mr. John Rudolph and it was basically his passion for a fair amount of his life, he was a big picture guy though and just did not have the fine finish skills to get the project done. Supercharger was a little out of all the local mechanics skill sets in tuning (might take a die hard Studebaker, Kaiser, or racing fanatic who is use to working with them) - damn thing puts out a ton of boost pressure and is just hard to work with. By the way - it is one wild ride and for real dramatics people are stunned when you wind the top down or install the front wheel fender skirts - they are just knock you dead.

Hello,

I may be able to answer the improvements question but everyone seems to be on the right track so will save such for a rainy day (Bill's papers consisted of a good 6 boxes and fill a 4 x 4 x 8 by 4 shelve display case).

Bill actually had a corporation and for another rainy day I will post out the letter congratulating him on the packard contract for 55.

Nobody bit on the hint yet: So, where was this car seen (pictured) when it was new ?

Thanks Kevin, bigger is better though in this case. This car needs the attention and a ton of help - if it were not the car referenced in "hint" (and I am awaiting someone to fill in the details before I let the cat out of the bag sort to speak) and also being the torsion bar test vehicle and bill Allison's it would have been scrapped years ago.

The extra holes around the front headlight rims help keep the brakes cool - just joking

Basically, it does not have what it should below the door level. You are not looking at the rocker (it steps back in almost 1 inch below bottoms of doors). Help, Help, and need more Help here.

Hello,

Citizens Motorcar Company, America's Packard Museum in Dayton, OH, would like to announce that we are going to start a sympathetic restoration on the 1955 Bill Allison Torsion Bar Suspension test vehicle. The car was donated to the museum several years ago by Bill's family, though due to it being a Detroit car nothing could be done with it without substantial work so it remained in storage. Now time to solicit some donations and get car on display. I had it dropped off last week and we have in the first storage bay in the basement and have begun to collect parts. What is great is that I have a fair amount of documentation from day 1 of this car and also the private papers of Bill Allison (the designer of the torsion bar suspension). P.S. have any of you seen pictures of car before when new - hint = originally it was painted ( ED ) and has a trim code ( 62 ) - all powder blue lower with darker blue top (now improperly has blue lower accent so as to deal w/Detroit rust and blue around windows).
