Re: Metering rod for Carter WDO 531 S

Hi everyone
I just tore down my carter wdo carb and rebuilt it………well almost, I’m stuck at installing the metering rod spring. I’m sure it is simple to do but I’m not having much luck and the rebuild kit is not to detail oriented.
Here is a picture of where I am.
As you can see, where the rods go and the there is a horizontal rod like a float rod to hold then. I can’t t see how the spring goes on this, I’ve tried several way and none work.
Help.

Guys just one more question…….
Will the wagner brand H6006 halogen headlamps work in a ‘49 std 8 car? The bulbs are supposed to be 6 volt halogen bulbs.
Thanks guys!!

Where can a guy get a oil filter canister for a ‘49 288 ci engine as I heard that not all have oil filters from the factory (are you kidding me???🤔)
Merry Christmas by the way! 🎄

I just tried to call both suppliers and could not get through by phone to either of them. Kanter isn’t taking calls today, Max Merritt didn’t answer the phone, and I
Tried to order from supplier Then and Now but they can’t process an online order unless I set up an account and log in, which seems unnecessary unless they provide some sort of wholesale supply. Very frustrated with trying to get the parts I need for my fuel pump.🙁

I believe AV gas refers to aviation fuel. It is used in aircraft engines requiring a higher octane rating with anti-knock properties, in higher compression engines, also used as a racing fuel for the same reason. Also aircraft flying at altitude may rely on a air compressor or supercharger of some sort, to keep the air flowing at pressures equal to atmospheres at or near sea level, to maintain adequate performance.
During WW2, Packard was really good building these engines.

Door panels and door gaskets

Hi again,
How much trouble is it to replace all the weatherstripping gaskets on the doors and trunk-lid and all the rubber contact bumpers. I have very ratty looking door panels due to seepage/leakage over the years.
Can the door panels be cleaned without ruining them?
