Engine Color

I've got a question for the group.
I have a 22 series 1949 Custom Sedan with a 356 engine. From what I've gathered on this site the original color was either green or gray. When I look at my engine I can tell both the head and block were red.
I've found only one reference to red engines in the literature and it says that red engines were factory rebuilds.
My question to you is if I'm restoring the car should I take it back to the factory colors (green or gray) or represent "this" cars history and make it red?
What do you think?

Yes, they will work. I installed these in my 49 and they work great. Love them.

Does anyone have a lead on the UV filters for the dash lights that were mentioned on earlier posts?

Hey guys, I have a 49 22 series Custom. The speedo works and seems to be accurate, but the odometer doesn't turn. Do you think it's worth disassembly and lubricating or just replace the odometer?

Update:
Thanks to HH56's diagram I was able to get it wired up and working. Thanks.
I love the wealth of knowledge that's on this site.

Trying to get the back up light to work. It has a wire going to the light but no power light. I looked for a wire that wasnt hooked up and didnt find anything. This back up light doesnt appear in the wiring diagram. Where do you guys think I should pull power from to get this working?
The switch is located at the base of the steering column. (It's the only clean thing in the picture)
