Material behind backseat of 41

I have one last thing to complete the re-upholstering of my 41 160 sedan. Will someone advise me when you open the trunk what material was used to cover the backside of the rear seat back. I've seen many restored Packards that have that area carpeted. My thoughts are that a heavy felt looking material would be correct or should I just match the trunk carpet. The car is a driver but I like to keep things as original as possible. Thank you.

Can someone tell me the thickness of the gasket material used for the thermostat housing gasket on a 41 Packard. Also should it be applied dry or with some type of sealant ? Thank you.

Does anyone know where I might obtain an exhaust bracket for a 1941 160. This is the bracket that mounts just forward of the transmission cross brace for lack of better words that supports the exhaust pipe from movement/vibration. Thank you

Can anyone advise me on the correct color for the parking brake handle in a 41 160 sedan ? I've seen brown and a light caramel color on a few 41's

I heard that Max Merrit may be offering his services. I was told they purchased Jerry's business, but I'm not positive.

Charging battery

I would like to find an alternate way to charge the battery in my 37 sedan other than having to remove the front seat bottom each time. A friend of mind that runs a auto repair shop suggested that I charge it through the cable leading to the starter. Just wondering if anyone had any other suggestions. I was thinking about adding a couple of leads to the battery that I could hook a charger to from under the car. Still not convent but better that always removing my seat and taking a chance at damaging the upholstery. Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

Thank you for your reply. Tomorrow if I discover it's the pump then I think I will just replace it. I do however like what you said about locating an electric at the rear of the car. I have only used non-ethanol gas from the first day I purchased the car but can say what the previous owner ran in the tank.

I'm not going to just start replacing items, I can prime the carb and it starts every time but will not continue to run. The glass bowl is not filling up with gas as usuaI which tells me that fuel is not reaching the carb. I will first see if I can draw fuel from the tank with no obstruction, if so then I will look to the fuel pump and the hoses. Does anyone have a suggestion or opinion about an inline electric pump and if One is used does the mechanical pump need any modification.

Fuel Pump Issue ?????

My 41 has been parked for a few months as I was re-doing the interior. I noticed today when I went to start it would only start by priming the carb and then quite running. My guess is that the fuel pump has given up but I guess it could be trash in the fuel tank, just not sure. Perhaps the fuel pump diaphragm is bad. Any other ideas?
