Re: Caribbean hood in a Four Hundred. Was that possible?

I had a 56 Patrician with a Caribbean hood, dual 4s and twin antennas on the rear fenders. I sold the car. I bought the car this way and have no idea if it came from the factory this way.

I think it is old age creeping in. The interior you have is correct. I just looked at pictures of one of the 400s I had and it is in fact, the same pattern as yours. I think I got on my high horse thinking of my clipper which is different and my Caribbean which has an entirely different set up. My apologies

Just a comment.
Are the rear armrests complete? I believe the top of the armrest should be blue as it is, but there should be a white material extending to approximately the top of the seat cushion, than a stainless strip and below, the blue again. Other than that it is a great job. Hope I'm not being too critical because it really looks like nice work.

Re: 1955 factory air

Yes that did help. Thank you.
I have a 55 Caribbean with factory air. Looks like is was installed by other than the factory. The air distribution box under the dash is correct but the hole cut in the firewall looks a little goofy. The dash control knob is a little off center. The oil filter was originally located on the right side of the engine and the air compressor on the right. I removed the compressor and moved the oil filter to the left side when I made up my mind several years ago I didn't want to bother with the expense of getting the air working. I also remove the air relay and have since lost it. I recall it looked like the same relay used for the horn. Now I think I want to re-install the air as it is unusual on a Caribbean.

Thanks again

Does anyone have the wiring diagram for factory installed air conditioning? Can't find anything in the service book.

What I did on my Caribbean was use masking tape on the area not to be painted and then spray painted. Has held up ten years so far.

power steerig installation

I want to install power steering in my 55 Panama. Is the steering pump the same in the Monroe system and the Bendix system. The best info I can find makes me believe the Monroe was used in the 55 Panama and not the Bendix. I also noticed the the steering gear box has a different part number comparing standard to power steering. The number of turns, lock to lock is different. Has anyone done this conversion?

spark plug wires

I recently had my 55 Clipper tuned up. The copper wired spark plug wires were replaced with radio resistant wires and the plug were replaced with resister plugs.
The car does not now run very good.
This car has the Auto-Lite system. As I recall, the 56 went to the resistant system. I know the rotor changed in 56.

Any thought as to if this could cause my problem?
