We have a 1933 Packard Standard 8 with the trumpet style horns which appear to be cosmetically restored but only give forth with a very weak "grunt." Anyone know of repair persons or access to information to repair such horns?

We have a '33 Packard 8 in need of RF locking exterior door handle. One vendor responded with a price of $600. Ouch!! Important is the ability to LOCK UP the car so cylinder must be free. All help much appreciated. Russ

Owen:

Hope I have the name correct? These ideas give me something to think about. These darn hood ornaments are so attractive sometimes to the wrong people that not sure trying to keep it on the car via a hidden screw or chain, etc., would help as some are likely to damage the car in trying to remove the ornament any way they can. I like the old rusty or pitted cap idea the best. Anyone have such? Thanks ALL.

Russ

Hood ornament...substitution?

We own a 1002 that has the correct hood ornament that is also the radiator cap which could be easily stolen. I would remove the ornament if sitting in a motel parking lot overnight but anyone have a suggestion for a substitution mean while? Something more elegant than rags?

David:

I look forward to seeing a picture of the Packard wheel that will fit my 1941 160. I can then judge better the possible purchase. Russ

Adding an overdrive...

I have a 1002 and interested in adding an overdrive. Gear Vendors has a unit with electronic function, tho expensive, that would help a great deal as our plans are to drive this car cross country. Anyone used this manufacturer? I'm familiar with the available Mitchell O.D. and the 4.06 ring and pinion available. I would like to reduce the rpms lower than the available 4.06.

Thanks, Jim, for that additional information. Where do I obtain the book(s) mentioned, "Reference Book of Mechanical Information.?" Russ

Am I correct that there were no manuals for the year '33? And if so, beyond the available "letters", what else is available? Russ with a 1002.

Were you able to present your plan for sealing the windows on a '33? I, too, am waiting for a good fix on that sealing. Russ
