What color is your pushbutton actuator painted?
Forum Ambassador

Mr.Pushbutton
I received Bob's unit from GA today and began cleaning it up. It appears to have beenpainted the metallic green color like one I did for a Clipper. I have seen ('56 senior) bronze units, "natural" units with no paint, no evidence of there ever having been paint and I've seen green ones. Has anyone ever found a Green painted actuator on a senior car with a bronze trans?

Ok gentlemen, I got some more info on the aluminum heads for Packard V8's. We can get them for $2000 a set, that's as low as they can go until there's more sets spoken for. I'd like to buy a set, but I'm not buying 10 of them just to get one set for me. I need some help here people!!

Don't feel stupid about this. Plenty of people in the hobby were unwittingly taken in by these pictures when they were published in an article that was presented as a factual account back in 2002 and by not just one, but TWO clubs. Worse yet, it wasn't even April Fool's day, and the author had been honored as guest speaker at more than one National meet, with all expenses paid, too.

Shortly after those images were first published, I - a rank amateur and with nothing more than a piece of software that cost less than $99 (US) - created the quick-n-dirty image of the 1956 Patrician Twelve just to show what was possible - phakery, that is.

I'll let John tell you the full story.

It is a good example of Packard craftsmanship and deserves a place alongside any Packard at a gathering.

I guess I should say that this is not an April Fools joke, it's for real.

Conn: It was an April Fools joke. There is a story behind the pictures that I posted. I had nothing to with any of the pictures, they were published in National Packard car club publication a few years ago. I will explain the whole thing to you on Tuesday night

Thanks BH. I like the look. My wife says it looks like a turtle. I told her I wouldn't "make" her ride in it then.

...boy I feel silly, here I am thinking that you were pulling the April 1st on me, but you were serious! (All it takes is a good computer artist)
Nice work! What's the grill look like? So are you hoping to go in to production or is this a hobby (What's the next step)? Have you been here?http://www.packardmotorcar.com/
Sorry

Some people actually find that the modest side trim of the '56 Deluxe makes for a cleaner appearance. It definitely makes the car more distinctive from the Super sedan, as compared to the '55 versions.

The Deluxe actually had the highest production level of any '56 Packard (or Clipper) - hence, very popular with buyers of the day. In clean, presentable condition, a Clipper Deluxe still stands head and shoulders above many other cars of 1956.

Be sure to enter details and a pic of your car in the Owner Registry section here. Also, check out the Model Info section on the 56th Series (maybe even the 55th Series) for the essential specs and some great info that lets you compare the various models.
