Here is the car on arrival at my house in the Atlanta area. Had to get a roll back to unload from the carrier. Those over the road car haulers are amazing. Took a couple months to get the car here.

Lots of intrigue as the Russian owner left the country and I didn't have the car yet. All worked out, but was a little unnerving.

'38 1608 V12 Project

Well, I have decided, after some encouragement to start a blog on getting my 1608 7 passenger touring on the road again. I bought it over a year ago, and thru the help of the club have been able to contact a previous owner from the 70's and determined the owner before him had moved and passed on. Big blanks prior to '70 and after say '78. Based on the CA inspection sticker it was last on the road in 72.

I wanted a BIG car to fit the kids and grand kids in, wanted a V12, sidemounts, luggage rack, Trippe lights etc. and didn't have open Twelve money, so this is what I have. Plan is to make it a wedding event car for when I retire. The car had a weigh scale ticket that read 6,110#'s

Car was very complete and had original interior and paint, but unfortunately, I don't think either is salvageable. The roof was out of it, probably due to an electrical short in the dome light. Only has surface rust and the bolts are amazingly unseized. Love California cars. Seller listed it as Green and when I got it, it turned out to be faded Centennial Blue.

I was at Hershey and found one of the last missing things, and there were not many, the Senior Grooved hood handle. A club vendor was able to supply the other one, so that is behind me.

I ran into these on my way up to Elkhart.

The Caribbean (that is my assumption) looks to have been repainted and not buffed yet. Missing a lot of chrome. At platers hopefully.

the other was identified as a '27 truck but it was a cut down 4 door. I think it was at Auburn recently.

My book is 3/8" softbound (paper)repro. I think the original one had many more pages.

Thanks for the help. Super 8 Transmissions are covered on pages 102 thru 105. I have the short version of the Manual. I don't see anything like what you mentioned. Is it only in the unabridged version?

Rear backup light '38 Senior

I just got a Packard script backup light and was trying to figure the activation switch and the mounting bracket.

I assume the switch works off the shift housing, probably off a rod. The bracket I assume is off the drivers (left) rear bumper bracket. I think it would be easy to fabricate if I knew what it looked like.

Anyone have a photo of either?

Thanks

Bill

My Cormorant is attached by machine screws. Is there enough of the chair legs to thread? Another approach might be to epoxy/JB Weld studs (cut the head off a machine screw) into the chair holds.

You could probably pop rivet to the chair but I don't like to do anything to expand pot metal

Brian,

Good to hear from Down Under. My neighbors used to live there and they have a sign at the street with Outback painted on it and an arrow to their house.

I will try your WD and pad trick. Good advice on tossing it. I have gotten in trouble before using my wife's (it is actually ours, but I am the only one with that view) oven to heat bearings and the freezer to shrink them. Very bad tongue lashings followed when discovered.

Here is the threatened horn button photo.

There is pitting on some of the banjo "strings" so I am guessing it isn't stainless
