1939 Super 8 wiper issue

Chester Sams
As you know they are vacuum operated. They work somewhat.
They go about 1/2 way up then stop, it you nudge them then they go on over and return. It doesn't take much. Is there an adjustment on the vacuum pump to increase vacuum to them?

I have the 1st one. Mine doesn't have a screw holding the rod. But I think I have to go thru the spring and the slide on the switch at the same time?

is there a trick to getting it back in? I have been fighting putting the rod back into the switch.
