PACKARD DID NOT MAKE A MODERN 6 CYL CAR UNTIL 1937, ADVISE SERIAL #, IF IT STARTS WITH 1087 THEN IT'S A 37.

tHERE WAS NO FACTORY INSTALLED OIL FILTER IN 37, SOME CYL HEADS HAD 2 TAPPED HOLES ON THE LH SIDE NEAR THE FRONT TO MOUNT A FILTER UNIT

There were no 1936 6 cylinder Packards. In september of 1936 the 1937 models were revealed and there were 6 cylinder models in the 1937 line up.

GasWorksGarage, yes your picture was too big. I'll email mail you to try and help you resize your photos.

Correct, that's a Purolator-style full-flow L-8 filter used on Super Eight and Twelves 1935 thru 1939.

Your lucky in that the seam about an inch and a half from the front (left side) suggests that you have a modified filter which saves you a bunch of dollars to replace! My '39 Super-8 did not.
